'42 Cathedrals Step by Step', by Barbara Foster
'42 Cathedrals Step by Step', by Barbara Foster
'This book is not just the record of an extraordinary journey, nor is it simply a chronicle of cathedrals visited. It's a reflection on the meaning of compassion and perseverance' - Sonya Sceats, CEO of Freedom from Torture
After the death of her husband Richard, in 2007, Barbara's life seemed to lack purpose. Seeking a target the following year, she and a friend walked the 60-mile Lea Valley Way. The success of this venture led to other long-distance walks.
Barbara set out to travel on foot linking the 42 Anglican cathedrals of England. A plan soon unfolded, and this is the story of the 5 years she spent, crisscrossing the country, in a 2,000-mile pilgrimage that raised over £4,700 for Freedom from Torture.
The number 42 is already well known as the 'answer to everything' in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Would 42 cathedrals be the 'Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything' for Barbara?
All proceeds will go towards supporting people who have survived torture to heal, feel safe and strong again.
